Testing needed!

Metro has published this beta of alerts which includes everything in one place. This has rail, bus, and accessibility. Taking a cursory look, this looks accessible and worth looking at. Please share this with your network.

The Accessibility Advisory Committee

The Accessibility Advisory Committee (AAC) plays a pivotal role here at Los Angeles Metro. The group has quite a number of members and also has officers who help lead the committee.

Staff also help with administering the committee just like all of the others that are ran by the agency.

If you want to learn more about this committee, this is one of two links that we found. Here is the second link that also talks about the committee, among others that are run.

The accessibility Advisory Committee meet on the following months: February, March, May, June, August, September, November and December. This change was approved in 2021 by the steering committee.

This steering committee does assist staff with Agenda items.

The committee meets on the second thursday of the months listed above at Metro Headquarters in the Henry Huntington room at 1PM.

In recent times, our agendas have contained items for board reports. Where applicable, the board reports will be part of this page under our meetings. Also, braille will be made available as discussed on the web site as well.

While compiling links, we found the accessibility advisory committee also has a Dropbox that you can access. Like PSAC, if you don't want to deal with the dropbox, we'll supply copies. Here is the AAC dropbox.

Meeting information

The next Accessibility Advisory Committee meeting will be August 13, 2026 at 1 PM.

La próxima reunión del Comité Asesor sobre Accesibilidad será el 13 de agosto de 2026 a la 1:00 p. m.

The agenda and minutes package is now available. Find PDF, Word, EBAE and UEB braille files. For ease of convenience, UEB will follow EBAE for lists, as we make one master file an use tools to convert the files in to both languages of braille.

Presentations

These are presentations that may be of interest that were presented by AAC staff to the AAC. If there are others, we'll link to them here.

June 2025

That's all the presentations for now.

Board reports

As part of the AAC, I've tried to write up board reports that might be of value between all of the meetings. These will stay up for at least one quarter unless we need more space.

Starting with April's set of reports, we'll publish reports as they become available. They then will be up for one quarter from the date of publication.

The Accessibility report from meetings attended April-june 2026

This report covers Accessibility issues that were talked about in Metro's own meetings which include the San Fernando Service Council, the Operations Committee, PSAC and the Board. This report is in Word, EBAE and UEB braille formats.

The Accessibility rider observations report Report for May

Below, please find word, EBAE and UEB braille of the observations report. This report covers what has been observed as a rider and is not Metro's opinion of how things are supposed to run.

The Accessibility Rider Report for April

The following is the accessibility report of observations for April 2026. It was written on May 4, 2026 and includes a quarterly report as well.

This file is available in word, braille (EBAE and UEB) and a podcast will discuss this in detail.

If you need another format, please send an email and let me know what format you need.

That's all of the board reports at this time.

Books of Interest

These may be books that might be of interest. They were talked about within Metro events attended by me.

If there are others that staff know about, they're welcome to submit the title and author to me.

These books do not mean endorsements to the authors. You may check BARD or other reading services used by disabled users.

The books listed herein are linked to from Amazon. We're not allowed to link to blindness related copies if available by law.

If possible, after the linked book, NLS audio and braille book numbers may be listed at Jared's discretion. DB equals digital book, BR equals braille book.

That is the end of the book list. Thanks so much for checking out the books!

Blog posts of interest

The blog has lots of information that could be of interest. I've been reading it for many years. This section of the web site will have those posts that might be of interest. The Source is the English version of the blog, while El Pasajero is the spanish version. In the following list, you'll find English versions of posts that might be of interest including detours, delays and posts on construction that might affect routes of people taking the system.

Some of the items may come from other news sources based in los Angeles that might also be of interest to you.

All items are marked with the source of where it was taken.

If you find that you read something that is out of date, please contact Jared by Email, text or phone call to let him know. Information on contact info is at the bottom of each page of this web site.
